Testing

Testing

Even if you have been offered a position in RTR, you will not be able to start our program until all of your testing is satisfied for your pathway.  This is different from other residency programs but it is important for us to be able to say to our district partners that we are providing a certified teacher at the end of our program, and passing test scores are required for teacher licensure.  The whole point of RTR is to provide the students we serve with extraordinary professional teachers with the credentials to be in the classroom.

Here is some important information about testing:

Studying: Invest time in studying. Even a little studying each day will move you further down the road.

Test Prep: Take advantage of the test prep programs that RTR provides. We have an online Praxis tutoring program (240 Tutoring) that all accepted students can utilize. We are also developing VCLA prep courses to take place during the 2022-23 school year.

Test Payments: Once you have been accepted to RTR, we will work with you to schedule your tests, and we will pay for them.

Test Retakes: We understand that testing can be a challenge and that some students will need to retake all or part of a test. If you demonstrate that you have studied and prepared for the test retake, we will pay for you to retake the test one time.
