Impact

RTR has been preparing teachers for high-needs and hard-to-staff school settings for more than a decade. Our graduates utilize their strong preparation and ongoing support and development to impact the lives of students in the communities we serve. Our mentors develop skills that improve their own teaching practice and professional interactions. Building principals see the benefit of the model on the preparation of new teachers and the continued growth of veteran teachers.

Testimonials

“Residency program graduates are committed to the field of teaching, improving instructional practice, and contributing positively to the culture and climate of the school.”

Secondary Pathway, Cohort 6

“The program has allowed me to be more thoughtful in not only my mentoring conversations, but also peer/colleague conversations. These professional conversations have been more reflective and data-driven, and I have learned how using the coaching language enables my peers to be more innovative and reflective with their own practice.”

Priscilla Menacho and Brianna Villarreal-Charris, Prince William Pilot mentor-resident pair

“The residency year was absolutely essential to me being prepared as a teacher. If I had been thrown into my first year with only a semester of practicum to guide me, the children and I both would have suffered.”
