Undergraduate Transfer Tentative Plans of Study

Residents enrolling in our elementary and special education undergraduate transfer pathways will be accepted to VCU for the fall semester. However, coursework for the program will begin in May prior to the VCU enrollment term. Accepted students will need to complete an additional form allowing them to complete summer coursework.

Below are tentative plans of study for the elementary and special education undergraduate transfer pathways. Courses listed below may not be the exact ones you will take if you are admitted to the program. An individual plan of study will be created for each admitted student. The number of courses required each semester is based on the previous coursework that is transferred in.

Year 1 Summer Semester (May – August)

  • EDUS 202 – Diversity, Democracy, & Ethics
  • SEDP 330 – Survey of Special Education
  • TEDU 386 – Children’s Literature
  • Additional 3 to 6 credits of ancillary requirements (economics, math, science, etc.) as needed

Year 1 Fall Semester (August – December)

  • TEDU 101 – Introduction to Teaching
  • MATH 361 – Numbers & Operations
  • TEDU 511 – Curriculum & Instruction in Elementary Classrooms
  • TEDU 426 – Teaching Reading & Other Language Arts
  • TEDU 440 – Elementary Education Practicum I
  • TEDU 410 – Building a Community of Learners: Classroom Management
  • Additional 3 to 6 credits of ancillary requirements (economics, math, science, etc.) as needed

Year 1 Spring Semester (January – May)
